Are you in search of some really fun things to do with your kids in Chattanooga, TN?
My family and I moved to the Chattanooga area a few years ago, and it’s such a great place to raise kids!
Chattanooga offers some really unique tourist attractions like the Tennessee Aquarium, Chattanooga Choo Choo, and Rock City just to name a few.
But, sometimes visitors (as well as locals) are looking for a more low key and even free way to spend time with their kids.
If that’s the case, Chattanooga has some really awesome parks that are super fun for kids of all ages.
Riverview Park in the North Shore
My two girls LOVE playing at Riverview Park in North Chattanooga. It is a really well-kept neighborhood playground with lots to do for kids of all sizes.
My daughters are six years old and 18 months old, so they are in completely different stages when it comes to play.
Luckily, Riverview Park has plenty of playground features to meet both of their needs!
Parking is free and is located on the streets surrounding the park. This is a picture of the climbing feature near the entrance.
It was taken on a day when the park was pretty empty. Usually you can see a line of cars parked on the street here.
After coming in the park entrance and passing the climbing feature, you will see the main playground area.
This is the zip line that goes under the bridge on the main playground equipment.
The swings are located in the back of the park. This includes a tire swing that is a favorite for my older daughter.
There is a separate play area for smaller kids with its own slide and swings.
Behind the toddler play area is a large grassy area where visitors (including dogs) often run and play.
There is also a covered pavilion with picnic tables and restrooms beside this open grassy space.
Riverview Park is one of my family’s favorite Chattanooga parks to spend a couple of hours. My kids love the playground equipment and the open running space.
Parents will enjoy the benches in the shade throughout the park to help ease the heat in the summertime.
Nearby Local Restaurants
The restaurants near this park are also some of our favorites in all of Chattanooga.
We often eat at one of the nearby restaurants before walking or driving over to the playground.
If you are looking for some really great local places to eat in Chattanooga, the dining locations below are top notch!
The Daily Ration
The Daily Ration is our go-to restaurant near this park. They have a large outdoor patio with an area full of pebbles/rocks for kids to play.
Little ones can also spend their time drawing with sidewalk chalk on the patio. Their food is really fresh and delicious as well!
Tremont Tavern
Tremont Tavern is a locally owned pub thought by many (including my family) to have THE best burgers in Chattanooga. Although it very much has a pub atmosphere, kids are welcome to eat at this local favorite.
Il Primo
Il Primo (Northshore) serves really great Italian food and always has excellent service. Plus, it has a really cute atmosphere!
Southern Squeeze
Southern Squeeze is currently not open for dinner, but you have to try their food if you are in the area during breakfast or lunch. They serve plant based food that are both healthy AND delicious. (Our favorite is the Aztec Bowl!)
